It knows more about your database than you do.
Possibly more than it should.
Graveyard CRM™ is the proprietary contact intelligence engine developed and operated exclusively by Vaguely Strategic. Not a product you license. Not a platform you log into. A system that sees your database in its entirety — the living, the lapsed, and the commercially deceased — and tells us exactly what to do about it.
Graveyard CRM™ operates across the full spectrum of contact intelligence — from initial decay detection to final narrative alignment. Its capabilities exceed those of any commercially available CRM platform, though they are considerably harder to put in a brochure.
Identifies contacts who remain technically present in a database but have ceased to exist in any commercially meaningful sense. They open nothing. They click nothing. They are, for all brand purposes, gone — yet they persist, inflating your list and degrading your metrics.
Core capabilityMaps the full purchasing lifecycle of trend-adjacent buyers — customers who entered a database during a specific product moment and have shown no brand alignment since. Highly specific. Broadly applicable.
Segment intelligenceCross-references behavioural signals, purchase history, and proprietary lifestyle indexing to assign each contact an aspiration alignment score. High-scoring contacts want what you're selling. Low-scoring contacts are simply in your database.
Scoring engineIdentifies lapsed contacts who, despite extended dormancy, retain a latent connection to the brand's evolving story. These are not dead leads. They are paused ones — contacts whose re-engagement is theoretically possible under the right conditions.
Re-engagement layerCalculates the total suppressive weight of historical contacts on current campaign performance. Expressed as the proprietary Heritage Fog Index™ — presented to clients in a manner that makes the number feel both alarming and entirely fixable.
DiagnosticProjects the ideal future customer composition of a brand's database based on directional intent and aspirational positioning. Graveyard CRM™ does not predict the future. It suggests a version consistent with what the client has already told us they want.
Predictive layerReconstructs the full behavioural history of a contact, including inferred decisions, probable lifestyle transitions, and likely reasons for disengagement. This capability is, we will be honest, deeply impressive in a presentation context.
Historical layerCompares a client's database decay rate against anonymised benchmarks from across the Vaguely Strategic portfolio. Allows clients to understand not only that their list is in poor health, but that it is in worse health than several other lists we are not at liberty to name.
BenchmarkingThe operational core of Graveyard CRM™. Removes, cleanses, consolidates, and clarifies until the surviving database represents the brand's actual audience rather than the accumulated record of its entire commercial history. Results may be smaller than expected. This is described as a feature.
Core engineThe Oracle layer maintains a continuous, real-time model of every contact in a client's database — their position within the brand's narrative, their directional drift, and their proximity to commercial irrelevance. This model updates without being asked to.
Graveyard CRM™ identifies patterns that exist across client databases without sharing client data. The mechanism by which this is achieved is proprietary. The results are, as we say internally, consistent with what the data would suggest if you looked at it long enough.
Before a contact becomes a heritage ghost, Graveyard CRM™ flags the trajectory. Early intervention is possible. Whether it is advisable depends on the contact's aspiration alignment score, the brand's current positioning, and a number of factors that Throssell Capital Partners prefers not to specify.
The Oracle does not switch off between engagements. It continues to observe. Clients are made aware of this during onboarding, in the section of the documentation that most people do not read fully.
We believe in full transparency. Particularly regarding the things we are asked about most often.
Graveyard CRM™ cannot resurrect truly dead leads. A contact who has permanently disengaged, unsubscribed, or simply moved on from your brand cannot be recovered. The name was chosen before this limitation was fully understood. It has since proved difficult to change.
— Vaguely Strategic internal communications, Q3 review, undated
It cannot guarantee that the customers remaining after a cleanse will actually purchase anything. It can confirm they are well-aligned with the brand. What they do with that alignment is, ultimately, between them and the checkout page.
It cannot be accessed without a full Vaguely Strategic engagement. Graveyard CRM™ is not a self-service tool. It is an instrument wielded by trained practitioners on behalf of clients who have accepted a proposal and signed the relevant paperwork.
It cannot explain the Throssell Capital Partners relationship in detail. This has been advised against by several parties, for reasons that remain undisclosed but are described, consistently, as entirely routine.
Vaguely Strategic receives full CRM access and conducts an initial diagnostic pass. This phase is described internally as the séance — the moment at which Graveyard CRM™ first makes contact with your data. Clients are not present for this phase.
All contacts are classified across seven decay categories. The Heritage Fog Index™ is calculated and presented to the client in a document designed to be clear about the problem while remaining appropriately vague about the methodology behind it.
Removal of identified dead-file contacts, heritage ghosts, and any other records determined to be outside the brand's future narrative. This phase dramatically reduces list size. Clients are briefed on this outcome before it happens and reminded of it afterwards when the numbers look alarming.
The remaining audience receives a new communications framework. Graveyard CRM™ continues to monitor. The Oracle does not switch off between engagements. This is considered a feature by Vaguely Strategic and is listed as such in the engagement terms.
Graveyard CRM™ infrastructure is supported by Throssell Capital Partners, a private capital vehicle whose mandate, portfolio, and general activities are not publicly disclosed. Their involvement in the development of Graveyard CRM™ predates Vaguely Strategic's founding by a period that has not been confirmed.
What is known is that Throssell Capital Partners takes a long view. They are not concerned with quarterly metrics. They are interested, as one communication described it, in "the patient accumulation of signal." What this means in practice remains a matter of ongoing internal discussion.
Clients engaging with Graveyard CRM™ are advised that Throssell's involvement is entirely structural and has no bearing on the confidentiality of their data — a statement that Throssell Capital Partners has reviewed and declined to comment on.
We didn't fully understand what Graveyard CRM™ was doing inside our database. But the results were consistent with our aspirations, and frankly that was enough.
Graveyard CRM™ knows exactly who they are. It has known for some time.
